Helga Zepp-LaRouche: Who Is Behind the Sabotage of the Nord Stream Pipelines?

The sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines, on Sept. 26, is an attack on Germany’s existential interests and citizens, which requires a thorough, objective investigation by the German authorities, free of any foreign interference, in particular from so-called allies. Such is the demand put forth by Helga Zepp-LaRouche in an article written Oct. 1.

Given all the information known to the public on the circumstances surrounding this act of terror, she notes, it is highly unlikely that the Russians carried it out (cf. the following item on Col Bosshard whom she cites). In addition to the difficulty of operating in an area so tightly monitored around the clock by NATO, the Russians have heavily invested in the pipelines, and stand to gain considerable revenue from the natural gas deliveries. Plus, they could have simply turned off the gas tap completely.

Helga Zepp-LaRouche further points to the now viral video on the Internet from a press conference on Feb. 7, 2022, in which President Biden states that the United States is in a position to put an end to Nord Stream 2, should Russia invade Ukraine. When a journalist asked how that could be done, since Germany is in control of the project, Biden answered: “I promise you: We will be able to do it.”

Helga Zepp-LaRouche also mentions that Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, known for distributing cookies on the Maidan in 2014, had also sworn last January, that “in the event of a Russian invasion, ‘One way or another, Nord Stream 2 won’t move forward’.” And then after the attack on the pipelines, former Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski tweeted, “A small thing, but so much joy… Thank you USA.”

In her article, Helga Zepp-LaRouche further notes that “the implications of the attack on the Nord Stream pipelines are enormous. They massively increase the immediate prospect of Europe’s deindustrialization, and its dependence on U.S. liquified natural gas (LNG). The skyrocketing costs are already causing a massive exodus of companies from Europe, and especially from Germany to the United States. All this means an assault on the living standards of the population.”

Another factor raised in her article is that the destruction of the pipelines “has for now taken the wind out of the sails of the German protesters who were demanding the opening of the pipelines and the end of the sanctions against Russia”, and the prospect of a diplomatic solution with Russia “has been buried”.

Although the evidence now available is only circumstantial, if it is established that the United States and/or NATO allies executed the attack, “then Europe will have to immediately free itself from subjugation to the United States and the U.K. and mobilize all its efforts to overcoming the conflict with Russia, and increasingly with China, by diplomatic means”, Helga Zepp-LaRouche asserts.
