Helga Zepp-LaRouche: Lies and Truth about Ukraine, and the Needed De-Nazification

Helga Zepp-LaRouche, chairwoman of the Schiller Institute, made a special 24 minute video statement on Feb. 28, 2022, reviewing the build-up of the crisis in Ukraine, which can be viewed here. She opened as follows:

I’m speaking to you because I want to give you an extremely important message. As you know, since a few days, Russian troops are in Ukraine, in a military operation. As a reaction, the West has imposed very, very harsh sanctions on Russia, which are going to have incredible effects, not only on Russia, but also on the whole world. President Putin has put the Russian nuclear weapons on alert. Any further escalation of this situation has the danger of things going completely out of control, and in the worst case leading to a nuclear exchange, and World War III, and if that happens the chances are that nobody will survive this. This could be the extinction of the human species.

Now, to understand how we got to this point, one has to look at the recent history of at least the last 30 years, because we have been sleepwalking from a point, which was incredibly hopeful, into a worsening of the situation—step by step, step by step—and most people were completely indifferent to what was happening.”

In 1989, when the Berlin Wall came down, she said, there was “a moment of incredible historical potential”, when an inclusive peace order could have been built. But rather than using that golden opportunity, the Western powers, in particular the United Kingdom and the United States, moved to build up an empire based on the model of the British Empire. NATO continued to expand eastwards, eventually promising NATO membership to Ukraine and Georgia, which, “from Russia’s standpoint, is unacceptable”.

Step by step, this eventually led to the uprising on the Maidan in Kiev, in 2014. Although there were many democrats among the demonstrators, there were also “from the very beginning”, elements from networks associated with Stepan Bandera, who “had cooperated with the Nazis in the Second World War”. Those networks had been protected by western intelligence services since that war for future use in a confrontation with the Soviet Union, and they were mobilized in 2014 for the putsch and have remained highly active and influential in Ukraine since then, including as part of the ominous Azov brigade. In addition, according to Victoria Nuland, a top official of the U.S. State Department at the time, the U.S. government had spent $5 billion to build up NGOs and others to bring about that coup d’Etat and then carry out a hysterical anti-Russia campaign.

Coming back to today, Helga Zepp-LaRouche stresses that a de-nazification campagin is crucial as well as the granting of a neutrality status to Ukraine. She ends her video statement with a call for “an immediate international mobilization for an international security architecture which must take into account the security interest of every single nation on the planet, including Russia, including China, and the United States, Europe nations, and all other nations… The model for this is the Peace of Westphalia Treaty (cf. above).” Finally, she appeals to all to join this mobilization.
