Former Israeli Prime Minister: Netanyahu’s Strategy Leads to Armageddon

“Netanyahu’s Messianic Coalition Partners Want an All-out Regional War. Gaza Is Just a First Step.” That is the evaluation of Ehud Olmert, Prime Minister of Israel from 2006-2009, published in the Feb. 22 Haaretz. “The supreme aim of the far-right duo National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich is not the occupation of the Gaza Strip”, he writes. “Even settlement throughout the devastated Strip is not the final goal of the bunch of messianic hallucinators that has seized power in the state of Israel. Gaza is just the introductory chapter…. The ultimate aim of this gang is ‘purging’ the West Bank of its Palestinian inhabitants, cleansing the Temple Mount of its Muslim worshippers and annexing the territories to the state of Israel.” It will lead to “Armageddon. All-out war. In the south, in Jerusalem, in the territories of the West Bank and to the extent necessary also on the northern border…”

Ehud Olmert is no peacenik, but he has spoken out before against the no-negotiations, total war policy adopted by Israel since the attacks of Oct. 7. Those Western leaders who continue to support the Israeli war policy, for whatever ostensible reasons, would do well to consider his analysis.
