Climate Lobby Financiers Present Antithesis to Schiller Institute Approach

Sorry about that, but keeping people healthy by providing them with modern hospital facilities and surgery generates far too many greenhouse gases, we simply must cut back to save the planet. Such is the argument now pushed by the financial interests behind the climate change crazies.

Thus, after demonizing industry, modern agriculture and great infrastructure projects, the same insanity is to propagandized for the medical sector, in preparation for the Glasgow COP26 conference in November. That bash, by the way, is being prepared on behalf of the British government by Mark Carney, the former governor of the Bank of England, current UN envoy on climate change and finance, and one of the masterminds of the new “green bubble” scheme known as the Great Reset.

As part of that drive, the United Nations Climate Change secretariat posted an outrageous article on April 22, under the title “A Roadmap to Zero Emissions Healthcare”, which peddles the line that a slight increase in carbon emissions is much more dangerous than the current pandemic. Author Josh Karliner of “Health Care without Harm” deplores the “paradoxical fact that the health sector itself, a significant player in the global economy, makes a massive contribution to the climate crisis.” Therefore, they have come up with a roadmap to the decarbonization of “healthcare delivery and operations”.

An even more explicit article was published last November by npr.org under the title “More People Can Access Surgery. That’s Great For Them, Awful For The Planet”. It quotes a then just published piece in the authoritative The Lancet by researchers from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, which states: “Surgical, obstetric, and anaesthesia care is one of the major contributors to climate change within the health sector.”. And the impact will only worsen “as lifesaving procedures become accessible to the 5 billion people around the world, mostly in low- and middle-income countries, who currently can’t get them.”

Another earlier report in The Lancet also singled out modern operating rooms as “the enemy”, because they consume the most energy and produce the most waste, not to mention the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by certain anesthetic gases!

While the climate change ideologues cannot directly call for simply eliminating modern healthcare – at least not yet – they preach the need to reduce waste and rely on renewable energies. The consequences will be counted in lives lost…
