British Special Forces Most Likely Engineered Attack on Russian Fleet in Black Sea

A massive aerial and maritime drone attack was launched Oct. 29 against Russian ships in Sevastopol, on the Crimean peninsula. The drones reportedly used the special “security zone” reserved for grain deliveries, and were also aimed at ships protecting the grain corridor.

In a statement describing it as a “ terrorist attack,” the Russian Defense Ministry charged that it had been “carried out under supervision of British specialists in the city of Ochakov, Nikolayev region in Ukraine”. It added that “representatives from this unit from the British Navy were involved in plotting, organizing and implementation of the terrorist attack in the Baltic Sea on 26 September this year to blow up the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.”

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reiterated the charges of British complicity in both the Nord Stream sabotage and the attack on Sevastopol, noting that Russia would be urgently bringing the matter before the UN Security Council.

Experts we consulted agreed that Russia was highly unlikely to make such accusations unless they had “smoking gun” evidence to back them up, and former CIA analyst and Russia specialist Ray McGovern tweeted as much. Moreover, our news service has repeatedly emphasized the role of the United Kingdom in escalating the crisis, including then Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s trip to Kiev in April to sabotage the negotiation process and his efforts to ensure Sweden’s and Finland’s accession to NATO, compounded now by the current provocations.

Exacerbating the tension was the release on Oct. 27 of the Biden Administration’s new defense strategy documents, including its Nuclear Posture Review, which significantly lower the threshold for use by the United States of nuclear weapons. Russian and Chinese Defense officials quickly expressed their alarm over the new documents, with China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin denouncing the “nuclear blackmail” behind it.

Why such an escalation at this point in time, people should be asking. This is not just a proxy war between NATO (using Ukrainian troops, supplemented by foreign special forces) and Russia. The elephant in the room is the imminent implosion of the trans-Atlantic financial system, and the deployment of “Global NATO” to prevent other nations, notably China and Russia, from creating a new international financial architecture to replace that system, and thus torpedo the power of the current financial oligarchy (cf. below).
